The next generation of renovators: 4 inspiring renovators of 2023
Undertaking your first renovation or maybe your second can be an exhilarating experience. The property development and home renovation landscape has changed dramatically over the years. Gone are the days where renovating a home was for the obscenely rich and older age groups. Now we see more and more Gen z and Millenials take on their own renovation projects, both big and small.

2024 is expected to be an exciting year for the next generation of renovators with a host of new development projects on the horizon. With that said, we have taken a look at some inspiring renovators and the projects that they have kicked off or completed in 2023.

Monalisa Quaidoo has been renovating her home for a number of years. She focuses on DIY, hacks and interiors. She and her partner Justin renovated their small bathroom in a single weekend. They were expert planners, buying all the materials ahead of time and ensuring they had all the appropriate tradesman lined up. They perfectly organised for the tile cutting to be conducted outside of the bathroom whilst the plumming was being done, in order to complete the project in 72 hours. Talk about multitasking.

Naomi, who renovates under the pseudonym ‘movingouttheends’, has purchased a home for the second time. For her second home purchase, she opted for a renovation project, completely overhauling the 3 bedroom house. She added a single storey extension for a kitchen/diner and she plans to convert the existing kitchen into a study, small utility room and a downstairs toilet. Naomi’s design skills are equally impressive and we can not wait to see the finished project.

Renoandvibes
Tolu and Deji, also known as Reno and Vibes, have been disrupting the renovation space for the last couple of years. They purchased their first home in 2021 and immediately began renovating. In 2023, they purchased a second as an investment property and they have been doing a complete overhaul. They stripped out the windows and they have recently completely renovated the roof to give a fresh modern look. “It’s tough” they shared on their Instagram.

Zeeshome_
Zainab Olaleye bought her first house in 2021 and began slowly renovating it over the years. Her recent project on the house was the bathroom renovation. She took on the dreaded task of ripping out her old bathroom, laying down the tiles, grouting and applying the caulk herself. She may have broken her first tile during the project but persevered until the end.
